Once you've spent all this money on equipment, you have to have a safe way to move it all around! What does that mean? More money. :( Seriously, cases are very important and shouldn't become an afterthought when purchasing gear. It's probably a good idea to wait until you can afford the case before you purchase the camera/lens/etc.
Our go-to brand for hard cases is Pelican. They have a lifetime warranty, are watertight, and Pelican says they are unbreakable, which we would agree. We primarily use 4 different sizes of Pelican cases.

It's small, but can fit more gear than you think. You can pack a DSLR body, 3 lenses, and a Zoom H4n with a LAV mic in one of these and be good to go. Buy the ones with the padded dividers (1514) instead of the foam (1510), that way you can change it up depending on what you're putting in the case. Pelican makes a nice lid organizer for this case if you want to carry even more stuff. Another plus about this case is that you can carry it with you on an airplane!
This is our main Pelican case. This is our camera case for all of our big shoots. We can put two C300's, 6-8 lenses and any camera accessories we need. The best thing about this case is that it holds a lot of gear without being too big. Pelican also makes a lid organizer for this case as well.
This is the big brother to the previous case. It weighs 30 pounds without any gear in it! This case holds an insane amount of gear in it. You could easily fit 3-4 cameras with lenses and some extra gear. We have one for camera gear (1654) and one to carry our teleprompter (1650).
This tall case is what we use to transport light stands, sliders, and any other gear that is durable enough to ride along side each other. You can purchase it with foam, but we like the ability to pack additional items like extension chords, adapters, other small cases, etc.
Lowepro Vertex 300 AW Backpack
This is a really great backpack that we use to travel with on airplanes as well as to shoot locations where big black cases would be too intimidating. We can fit 2 cameras, a select number of lenses and some audio gear as well. It can hold more gear than you think! It has a rain cover and water-resistant zippers. This is a nice case option for a one-man-band scenario.
This is a great catch-all bag. We use this for our audio gear and teleprompter computer and accessories. It's nice and rugged with a great shoulder strap. We love it, and it looks cool!
